It's all go at WFC headquarters...

October 18, 2012

Only a few weeks remain until the whistle blows for the start of the Men's Floorball World Championship in Bern and Zurich: The background preparations are running at full speed. We are lifting the curtain just this once and taking a brief look behind the scenes:

Divide the volunteers, send out the VIP invitations, process the applications from school classes, keep an eye on ticketing, the list goes on. It's all go at the Floorball World Championship headquarters in Bern and Zurich. Recording all of the school classes that have registered for the "School classes at the Floorball World Championship" project at the Zurich site is currently taking up a lot of time. The response is overwhelming, explains Daniel Kupferschmid, who manages WC headquarters. The registration period for Bern schools is still open. Then all the visits must also be organised.

Another important task is the recruitment and division of volunteers. We are still missing a few people who are available for supporting roles during the world championship. "We need another three team guides, amongst other posts. These guides should be available for the whole week", explains Kupferschmid. In addition, amongst others, we are still missing drivers, people for the security service, the communication office and entrance control. Those responsible are not concerned about the vacant roles, however. The necessary helpers can still be recruited via the local organisation committees and on the volunteer portal.

In addition to these two main tasks, WC headquarters has enquiries of all types to respond to, invitations to send, meetings to participate in and paperwork to manage. Jam-packed days are tackled with a good dose of composure, a good overview and a pinch of humour.
